I am sorry to inform you that Arthur Palmer passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 4:00pm. I know that you all meant so much to him and felt you should be one of the first to know. Thank you for all you did for him.

It is with deep regret that I inform you of the death of yet another Kretchmer crewman, G.C. Parnell (BM, '45-'45) passed away on December 12. He was at Hospice in Winston- Salem, NC, had been quite ill for some time.

Once again, I regret forwarding the news of the death of a Kretchmer crew man. Leo Burns, (SN, '44-'45) passed away on August 30, 2006. I have no details as this was passed on to me from Joe and Marie Hearn from a notice in the DESA News. Obituary from Summerfield, FL confirms the report.

I regret to inform all that we have lost another shipmate. Joseph Alvord (GMG '64-'65) passed away on 5 October 2006. Joseph and wife Carol lived in Clarks Summit, PA. He battled heart disease and diabetes for many years.

All Hands,
It is with deep regret that I pass on to you the death of a shipmate. Ron Westerburg (GM, '44-'46) passed away on the afternoon of 10/5. Ron suffered a massive stroke some weeks ago and was in a rehab facility in Erie, Pa. My understanding is that he contracted pneumonia and passed away. Peter Burke of Waterloo, NY, passed away May 12, 2006. He was aboard from 1956-57 and his rate was AG.
Peter attended both the Chicago and the Duluth reunions.

Phyllis DeVore, wife of Roy DeVore, passed away on March 7, 2006. Phyllis was 79 and had attended many reunions with Roy. We extend our sympathies to Roy and the DeVore family.
